Info
Duda Moraes was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1985. She lives and work between Bordeaux (France) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Since 2025, she has had her studio at Fabrique Pola, a center dedicated to the cration and dissemination of contemporary art in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
Graduated in Industrial Design from PUC-Rio, Duda worked for five years as a textile designer, creating for major brazilians brands. Coming from a family of artists, she began her artistic career in 2014, after completing an intensive drawing course, turning point when she chose to fully dedicsted herself to the visual arts.
Her research stems from the observation of nature, not as an object of representation, but as a starting point for a pictorial expression that reflects internal states and impressions of contemporary daily life. What may at first seems floral or organic reveals, through its layers, a silent chaos, a reflection of a world in constant tension. Her gesture, often impulsive, carries a visceral force, expressed through intense contrasts, vibrant colors, and compositions that move between control and freedom.
IN 2020, through preparatory collages for her paintings, Duda began a new textile based series entitled, Textile. Using reclaiming fabrics, velvets, silks ans arabesque patterns sourced in France, she composes works that, like her paintings, explore layering, contrast, and materiality. This dimension expands her practice into the three dimensional field, establishing a dialogue between cultures and temporalities.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions at institutions suc as Bois Fleuri, Espace Saint-Rémi, Glacieres de la Banlieueu, and L'Abbaye de l 'Escaladieu (France), as well as Anita Schwarts and Albuquerque Contemporanea galleries (Brazil).
She has also taken part in projects such as Bleu Satellite, Tinbox#5, the Education Artistique Culturelle (EAC) program with Juniors Createurs promoted bu IDDAC, and the made in, Made on project with Agence Creative.
In 2023, she was awarded the Robert Coustet Prize in Bordeaux.
In 2025, she joined the Documents d 'Artistes Nouvelle Aquitaine (DDA) plataform, which brings together artists representative of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region's contemporary art scene.
